Technology in Straide N.S.

Ss.Peter & Paul N.S. received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used for the following:

1. Provision of Devices: Purchasing Chromebooks and iPads to ensure that students have access to technology for remote learning, which helps bridge the digital divide. The children use their devices daily to enhance their engagement with education.

2. Hands-On Learning Tools: Investing in educational tools like Lego WeDo kits to engage students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.

3. Coding and Robotics Kits: Implementing Micro:bit devices to teach coding and programming skills, allowing students to develop critical digital literacy competencies.

4. Internet Connectivity: Providing mobile Wi-Fi hotspots or data plans to students who lack reliable internet access at home, ensuring they can participate in online learning.

These initiatives work together to create a more equitable learning environment and support students in overcoming barriers to education.
